Mission Statement / Aims: “The NAACP’s principal objective is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic of minority group citizens of united states and to eliminate racial prejudice. The NAACP seeks to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through the democratic processes.”

Wells, W.E.B Du Bois, Archibald Grimké, Oswald Garrison Villard, Lillian Wald, Mary White Ovlington, William English Walling, Henry Moskowitz Key Moments: 1909: Founding 1917: July 28 Organised largest civil rights protest in US history (est 800 children + 10,000 silent marchers 1948: President Truman first president to formally address the NAACP 1954: Brown v Board of Education of Topeka overturns 1955: Mont bus boycotts (Rosa Parks) became a springboard for a national civil rights campaign 1964-65: Civil Rights Act of ’64 + Voting Rights act ‘65 HISTORY

Impact and success: 1963 – March on Washington 1964 – Civil Rights Act 1965 – Voting Act 1960 In Greensboro, North Carolina, members of the NAACP Youth Council launch a series of non-violent sit-ins at segregated lunch counters.These protests eventually lead to more than 60 stores officially desegregating their counters.
