CONGRUENT TRIANGLES Side-Side-Side Postulate (SSS) Side-Side-Side Congruence: If the sides of one triangle are congruent to the sides of a second triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
2
CONGRUENT TRIANGLES Side-Angle-Side Postulate 4.2 (SAS) Side-Angle-Side Congruence: If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are congruent to two sides and the included angle of a second triangle, then the triangles are congruent.

EXAMPLE CONGRUENT TRIANGLES Determine which postulate(s) can be used to prove that the triangles are congruent. If it is not possible, say not possible. Side-Side-Side (SSS) AND Side-Angle-Side (SAS) Step 1 Check for congruency by SSS Step 2 Check for congruency by SAS Congruent by Side-Side-Side (SSS) Congruent by Side-Angle-Side (SAS)
4
YOU TRY Using SSS or SAS test to see if Step 1 Determine what we know Since we only know that two sides are congruent we can not use SSS Step 2 Check congruence using SAS Because the congruent line segments do not coordinate with the name
