Career Choices for me: Jacob Salwey
2
What Jobs I want to do Civil Petroleum Engineering Engineering
3
My first choice is Civil Engineering The Duties, Conditions, and Earnings Duties: They deal with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Conditions: are mostly inside designing the parts than you send your design to a place that would make the part. When it comes back you would try to make it. Earnings: some people can start out with 52,000 and then normal pay for a year is 74,600
4
Second Choice is : Petroleum Engineering The Duties, Conditions, and Earnings Duties: Assess costs and estimate the production capabilities and economic value of oil and gas wells, in order to evaluate the economic viability of potential drilling sites. Conditions: Offshore work involves communal living, though living facilities are generally very good. Elsewhere, field work may involve communal living, sometimes in inhospitable conditions. Earnings: Starting- 83,000 & Normal- 108,000
5
Training and Qualification Civil Engineering Training: A bachelor's degree Qualification: taking Mathematics and Physics, they can gain entry to a civil engineering degree at university. Petroleum Engineering Training: A bachelor's degree Qualification: After graduation you can apply for your engineering license. This begins with the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE), which when successfully completed, will earn you the title of Engineer in Training (EIT).
6
School of Choice Michigan Technological University Michigan is the best choice I could come up with cause it has a really good engineering course. The university is also in a small town which I like.
7
Name of Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering
8
The Cost at my “Perfect School” For 4 years at Michigan Technology University would cost me : 25,678.00 per year.
9
Similarities Both a type on engineering Both take at least 4 years of college Both have long hours in the office.
10
Differences P.E. is concerned with activities doing with crude oil and natural gas. C.E. is concerned with public structures like bridges, road, dams, and canals. P.E. in the first few years you work on a oil rig
11
My choice out of the two choices would be civil engineer cause I would like to design stuff that people can use.
