Cause and Effect To find cause and effect, ask two questions: What happened? Chicken Little thinks the sky is falling. Why did it happen? An acorn hit her on the head. The cause is the acorn hitting her on the head. The effect is that she thinks the sky is falling. Objective: To recognize cause-and-effect in a text. Things happen in a story for a reason. What happens is called effect. Why it happens is called cause.
