Coordination of DBD searches WP1/N4 F. Piquemal IDEA meeting Heidelger October, 21-22 2004 First milestone: composition of the working group: G. Chardin (EDELWEISS) A. Guiliani (CUORE) Ch. Marquet (NEMO) F. Piquemal (coordinator) S. Schoenert (GERDA) K. Zuber (COBRA) - Most of the european experiments have a representative. - The group is open to the other persons who would like to participate (TUM ?) For this year, the deliverable is a preliminary report on techniques and background issues

First short report From each experiment~ 1 page written by representative to describe the technics (Ge diode, ZnCdte, bolometers, tracko-calo) and the R&D plans Goal is to have a sort of short introduction for the working group on the web page Most of the contributions are given (4/5) Plan was to have this report in September, new plan is November I will submit the full documents to the group with an introduction as soon as possible Deliverable year 1: Preliminary report on techniques and background issues For the IN2P3 plan prospects for the next 10 years with X. Sarazin, we wrote 2 documents about the DBD searches. The full document (25 pages) contains a physical introduction on DBD physics and a revue of each experiment and we have a shorter version (8 pages). These documents have to be translate in english. I propose to use the full version as a first draft and each representative improve the part concerning its own experiment (technical description, performance, background, sensitivity, R&D …), add references and of course give comments and remarks on the other parts. The english version could be ready in November.

Each years, we will improve this document step by step to respect deliverables: Year 1: focus on technics with background requirements and R&D guidelines To present the experiments we have to discuss a common frame and which informations about physics (background, sensitivities) we want to give. Ex: Introduction Technics (x page(s) 0<x<1) Background sources (x page(s)) present results, sensitivity ( x page(s)) R&D (x page(s)) Expected background and final sensitivity (x page(s)) Dedicated meeting N4/WP1 ? Year 2: focus on detailed background issues, results of the R&D and addition of a chapter about the database isotope Year 3: Addition of a chapter about the comparison among the different technics, place of the Europe compare to the US and Japan DBD detector proposals. Conclusions change to give recommendations In parallel, we have to add in our WP1 website all references about publications, preprints and conferences for all experiments.
