CTSO Goals Through participation in CTSOs, students will: develop leadership and technical skills expand career awareness increase academic skills prepare for future careers and education

Who Can Participate? Students gain membership while enrolled in a CTE program of study

Increasing Membership Be visible around your school—make it exciting! Be present at all events Display everything Get other teachers involved Have other CTE teachers promote your CTSO Recruit the help of non-CTE teachers

Increasing Membership Each experienced member recruits a new member Set up a recruitment table in the cafeteria

Increasing Membership Talk about your CTSO regularly in all of your classes Encourage students to join based on their strengths Remember CTSOs are Co-Curricular, not extra-curricular!

Professional Members School Partners Local Businesses ParentsTeachersGraduates Ask them to be judges!

What Next? Have regular meetings. Use national websites for information and ideas. Elect officers and let them run the meetings. Communicate electronically: FacebookTwitter Group text

What Next? Begin fundraising early…trips are expensive! Attend conferences and take as many members as you can…this is how they get hooked! Have fun with your members!
