2 STATUS/IMPACTS Overall status3 RWB - 2 good, 1 moderate. 0 lakes. Four TraC water bodies: Nore Estuary, Barrow Nore Estuary Upper, New Ross Port (HMWB); Lower Suir Estuary (HMWB) – refer to Transitional and Coastal Action Plan for SERBD Status elementsPhys Chem dictates status of 1 Good waterbody SE_15_2008. Remaining 2 are extrapolated. Possible Impacts - EPA Water Quality 2004 There are no EPA Water Quality Monitoring Data available for the River waterbodies which lie within the Nore Estuary WMU. PRESSURES/RISKS Nutrient sourcesMost TP is diffuse (96%) mainly from agriculture (80%) and unsewered properties (10%) Point pressures2 WWTP - Inistioge and Glenmore WWTP. 2 Section 4s – Property Developer, Private Company. No IPPCs. 1 WTP – Ballygub WTP. Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) and Industrial Discharges Inistioge WWTP at risk – refer to Selected Action Programme Quarries, Mines & Landfills There are no quarries within the WMU. There are no landfills or mines within the WMU. There are no waterbodies at risk. AgricultureThere are 2 waterbodies deemed to be at risk from agriculture within the WMU: SE_14_19 and SE_14_6 On-site systemsThere are 1283 septic tanks in this WMU, none of them are posing a risk to water quality due to their density, location and unsuitable hydrogeological conditions. ForestryThere are no waterbodies within the WMU at risk from Forestry. Dangerous substances There are no waterbodies at risk from dangerous substances within the WMU. MorphologyThere are no waterbodies at risk form morphology within the WMU. 16 Potential Barriers to Migration were assessed by SRFB and CFB, but none at risk. AbstractionsThere is one waterbody at risk from abstraction within the WMU: SE_15_2008 OtherThere are 2 HMWB within the WMU : New Ross Port and Lower Suir Estuary. SELECTED ACTION PROGRAMME NB All relevant basic measures, general supplementary measures and SEA mitigation measures apply Point SourcesInistioge WWTP - Investigate the need for increase in capacity of treatment plant BY 2012 (Priority 2) INDUSTRY - Examine the terms of discharge authorisations to determine whether they require review for the purpose of compliance with water body objectives including protected area objectives and environmental quality standards. Diffuse SourcesAGRICULTURE – Good Agricultural Practice Regulations and Enforcement. OtherProtection of drinking water, abstraction control and future licensing. Measures included in Shellfish Pollution Reduction Programmes under the Shellfish Directive. OBJECTIVES Restore Good status 2015 Protect I water body 2 water bodies Alternative Objectives Extended Deadlines – none New Modifications or Development – none requiring alternative objectives at present. HMWB/AWB - 1 HMWB : New Ross Port. Nore Estuary Water Management Unit Action Plan River Status FUTURE DEVELOPMENT Future Pressures and Developments Throughout the river basin management cycle future pressures and developments will need to be managed to ensure compliance with the objectives of the Water Framework Directive and the Programme of Measures will need to be developed to ensure issues associated with these new pressures are addressed. High Good Moderate Poor Bad Yet to be determined

3 River Data Nore Estuary Water Management Unit Action Plan This table outlines water body information including status and a breakdown of its elements, protected areas, objectives and timescales.
