Main Functions Transportation of nutrients, gases and waste products. Help maintain a constant body temperature Protection of the body from infection and blood loss. To help maintain fluid balance within the body.

Interesting Facts Big bodies have slower heart rates. The heart needs not a body to beat. Red blood cells are special. In space, blood pools in your chest. The heartbeat is produced by theclosing of the atrioventricular valves.
