Definition Job Analysis (JA) The procedure for determining the duties and skill requirements of a job and the kind of person who should be hired for it. Job Description A written statement of what the worker actually does, how he or she does it, and what the job’s working conditions are Job Specification A list of a job’s “human requirements” Job Analysis Job Evaluation Quantitative techniques to determine the salary levels of jobs

The process of Job Evaluation 4 steps of The Point method 1.Determine the compensable factors of the job. 2.Determine the degree to which each job has compensable factors. 3. sum up the points for each job 4.Plot the actual relative salaries for each level of job.

Example of Job Evaluation for a Sales Manager Step 1; Compensable factors a.Education required b.Responsibility c.Consequences of error made Step 2; Degree of compensable factors a.Education required = 10/20 b.Responsibility = 15/20 c.Consequences of error made = 19/20 Step 3; Sum up the points 10 + 15 + 19 = 44/60 Step 4; Plot actual, relative salary 40 – 50 = X0000rs 50 – 60 = X00000rs
