Desirable Weight and Body Composition 1.Desirable weight – Weight which is healthful for a person Factors include: age, height, gender, body frame, basal metabolic rate, percentage of muscle tissue, and activity level. 2. Basal Metabolic Rate – The number of calories the body uses at rest.

Jeff’s BMI Jeff is a Freshmen in High School, and he is 5’6” (1.68m). He weight 127 pounds (57.61 kg). Calculate Jeff’s BMI using either formula. Is this a healthy BMI. Show the work on your learning guide. BMI = 20.496, it is a healthy BMI

Jeff’s Plan Jeff wants to go on a healthy weight loss plan. Every day he has to take in 1,500 calories, and every day he has to expend 2,200 calories. His plan is to lose 10 pounds. How many days will it take for him to reach his goal? 5 days to lose 1 pound. 50 days to lose 10 pounds
