Station 1: Using Beakers 1.Look at the markings on the sides of the beakers. 2.Which one would you use to measure out 300 mL of water? 3.Now fill it to the 300 mL line with water. 4.Pour your 300 mL of water into the next beaker. 5.Now Pour it into the last beaker. *Did you choose correctly for the answer to #2? CLEAN UP!

Station 2: Funnel and Flask 1. fill the beaker with water. 2. pour water through the funnel, into the flask until it reaches the 100 mL mark 3. empty the flask back into the beaker 4. Place the funnel into the top of the flask 5. pour water through the funnel, into the flask until it reaches the 100 mL mark Which was easier? CLEAN UP!

Station 3: Graduated Cylinder 1. look at the markings on the side of both cylinders. 2. locate 10 mL on the smaller cylinder. 3. fill it to the 10 mL mark 4. look from the side, what does the water do at the sides of the cylinder? 5. pour the water into the larger cylinder. Does it still measure 10 mL? CLEAN UP!

Station 4: Petri Dishes 1. fill one of the petri dishes with water 2. take the eye dropper and fill it with water from the dish 3. now release the water into the other dish. Count the number of drops the dropper held 4. Repeat steps 1-3. Did the dropper hold the same amount of water the second time? CLEAN UP!

Station 5: Balance 1. slide the little metal piece until the balance reads zero 2. add one of the weights and slide the metal piece until it is even 3. add another to the other side and balance it again 4. do you think this type of balance or an electronic one would be more accurate? CLEAN UP!

Station 6: microscope 1. turn on the microscope’s light. 2. a slide is already in place, do not move it. 3. turn the large knob on the side until the object looks clear. 4. now move the smaller knob to make it even more clear. What does the “micro” in microscope mean? TURN OFF THE MICROSCOPE LIGHT!
