2 Quality Assurance Mixture of formal and informal methods Formal methods linked to quality procedures to inform improvement planning and self evaluation processes such as the SED. –Tells you what is happening at regular points in the cycle Informal methods to identify an evidence base for improvement planning –Tells you why it is happening This is our focus

3 Informal Methods The official bit: –A toolkit has been developed to assist LJMU and its school partners to reflect on the progress their teams are making in meeting the challenges arising from the effective operation of School Direct. –It is intended that the toolkit will provide a supportive structure to assist the reflection and developmental thinking of teams who are striving to achieve excellence in all aspects of their own work as well as contributing to the continuing enhancement of the work of their School, Faculty and University.

4 General Aims To provide a vehicle to enable LJMU and their school partners to work with their teams to regularly to reflect on the progress made and make their own plans for continuing improvement. –It should be used to facilitate discussion within teams about developmental aspirations, rather than be used as a “Top – Down” evaluation tool. It is designed to help recognition and reflection of collective strengths and the kind of transferable skills which could be brought to the continuing development and enhancement of the partnership within the context of the JMU Strategic Map, Mission and Values.

5 Key Themes The Self- Assessment Toolkit has been developed around 10 key themes, with sub-criteria to assist with self-rating. This will enable to decide whether a team could be rated as ‘Starting Out’, ‘Making Progress’ or ‘Getting There’ in relation to each of the 10 Themes.
