2 Architecture Karnataka is called “Cradle of Stone Architecture”
The world heritage sites are at Hampi, Belur, Halebeedu, Badami and Bijapur.

3 Temples Some of the most famous temples of Karnataka are:
Gokarna’s Shiva Temple Murudeshwara’s Shiva Temple Udupi’s Krishna Temple Shringeri’s Shaarade Temple

4 Art Karnataka’s rich culture is reflected in varied art forms
Dances such as Yakshagana, Bombe Aata, Kolaata and Bharathanatya Carnatic and Hindustani classical music is practiced

5 Writers and Musicians Jnanapith, the country’s highest literary award has been bagged by seven Karnataka’s writers namely: Kuvempu, D.R. Bendre, Shivaram Karanth, Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, V.K Gokak, U.R.Ananth Murthy, and Girish Karnad. Purandara Daasa, Kanka Daasa, Bhisen Joshi, and R.K Shrikanthan have contributed immensely to the world of music.

6 Festivals The most famous festivals of Karnataka are:
Dasara (Bombe Habba) – Festival of Dolls Sankranthi Ugadi Shivarathri

7 Dasara and Karnataka Rajyothsava
Mysore Dasara is called the Nada Habba (State Festival). The traditional Dasara procession known as “Jambu Savaari” is held in the streets of Mysore City Rajyothsava – Birth of Karnataka is celebrated on November 1st every year. Kannadigas celebrate this day by hoisting the state flag and singing patriotic songs.

8 Food Udupi restaurants and fast food joints called “Darshinis” are very famous all over Karnataka. Some of the famous dishes are: Mysore Masala Dose Bisibele Bhaath Chiroti Kayi Obbattu Mysore Paak

9 Natural Karnataka By the soaring Western Ghats in the east by the blue waters of Arabian Sea in the west, Karnataka has 320km long coastline. Hill stations like Coorg, Agumbe, and Kemmangundi have their unique charm from coffee plantations, trekking trails, waterfalls and wildlife.
