3.  Ruled from 527-565 AD  Stressed unity throughout the Empire  Built many builds to encourage growth  Focused on establishing an Empire from where they were Emperor Justinian Hagai Sophia: finished in 537

4.  Their hierarchical government was dominated by an aristocracy. Which meant different laws and punishment for different social classes  Women had few rights  Survived until 1453 when they were conquered by the Turks Map of Byzantine Empire

5.  Was used by government to “unite” their people  Was given a lot of power of the people of the empire.  The Iconoclast Movement occurred during this time period, which was started to end the worship of statues, paintings, etc. * Example of worshiped paintings

6.  Invaded Europe around 300 AD  Were a migratory people, which means they moved around a lot.  A very savage group of people.  Very supersticious  Not much written information has ever been found about them. Hun Warrior
