Find a Process to Improve Identify processes that are important to your success. Select an AIM. Determine if there is a Best Practice or a policy that is prescriptive. If you do not have a best practice or policy, clearly state the new practice.

Organize a Team Include key stakeholders – they have the most knowledge. Clarify any uncertain knowledge. How will the process take place? Collect baseline data. Generate a process map to organize each step.

Select the Process Change Use base line data to determine improvement actions. Prioritize in order of importance.

Plan Changes Determine how each improvement will be implemented and when. Answer: “How will we know this change is effective?” Where will we launch the pilot? Who will be the key contact?

Implement the Changes Create a pilot for the change process. Keep a log of feedback. Adjust processes as needed.

Study the Effects of the Change Collect and analyze data from the measures. Did the improvement action have a negative or positive effect on the process results?

ACT Act on what your analysis reveals. Does the data give you favorable results? If yes, continue. If you receive unfavorable results, make further changes and check those results. When you are satisfied with the results, “Maintain the Gain”!
