6. Testing Group Characteristics  Highly transient population 48% migrant population  Addition of special needs students 10 students representing 3% of testing population  Exit of gift and talented students 5 students representing 2% of testing population

8. Plan of Action In order to improve student achievement, the following initiatives will be implemented:  tutoring  teacher staff development  consistent monitoring

9. Tutoring Tutoring Schedule:  Failed 1 section – choose before or after school session  Failed 2 or more sections – mandatory after school tutoring period  Saturday TAKS Academy beginning in January for all students needing assistance

10. Staff Development  Staff development sessions will be provided on the following topics:  Using desegregated data  Subject specific instructional strategies  Differentiated instruction  Strategies for the special needs students

11. Monitoring  Periodic Benchmark Testing  Consistent administrative walkthrough in classroom and during tutoring sessions  Evaluation of benchmark testing results

12. Looking to the Future  3 rd grade and 7 th grade students sample tested in 2010 showed improvement  New district initiatives will continue to be monitored and evaluated for improvement
