Pythagorean Theorem, Perimeter, Circumference, Area ….
2
Pythagorean Theorem…… Can only be used on right triangles. The hypotenuse is always the largest side and is always across from the right angle.
3
Example…… Find the length of the missing side. Remember, c is the hypotenuse because it is across from the right angle box.
4
Example…… If p = 4 and q = 5, find t.
5
Perimeter……
6
For a circle, the perimeter around the figure is called the circumference. r stands for the radius of the circle.
7
Find the Perimeter…..
9
Find Circumference……
10
Find the Perimeter…… Rectangle: P=20+60+60 = 140 Semi-Circle: C=(1/2)2(3.14)(10) = 31.4 Total = 140 + 31.4 Answer = 171.4
11
Area……
12
Remember: The “r” stands for radius. The radius is half of a diameter.
13
Find the Area…… HINTS…… Find BC Use Pythagorean Theorem to find DB. This is the height of the triangle. Use area formula.
15
Find the area……
16
Find the Area……
17
Find the area of the shaded region……
