2 Mission of D.O.N. Improve the quality of life in Detroit’s Neighborhoods by coordinating city services and departments that directly impact neighborhoods.

3 So how are we trying to put the community first in Community Development? What has changed since 2013?

4 Coordinate efforts of City Government and residents to aggressively eliminate blight and improve city services at the district and neighborhood level Work with City Departments to identify and eliminate dangerous buildings, illegal dumping and other sources of blight Build relationships with community groups and key institutions in each district to identify and address major concerns related to the improvement of City Services. Work creatively with Neighborhood businesses and other institutions to stabilize existing homes and attract new residents. City Government Residents

6 DON Accomplishments 2014 175 new block clubs formed/block captains appointed 78 Community partnership agreements executed or in process with the Detroit Land Bank Over 13,000 resident complaints addressed 973 dump sites/lots cleaned 13,615 volunteers engaged in blight removal activities. 7,000 registered volunteers participated in Angels Night.

22 Zero Percent Interest Loans The $8M program is a city-led partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC) and Bank of America. Focused public-private commitment to Detroit’s neighborhoods. Designed to help homeowners fix deteriorating properties and help eliminate blight Targets Detroit homeowners earning up to 80 percent of the area median income ($54,150 for a family of four), as well as households in targeted parts of the city, regardless of their income
