For a table of values of data that gives y as a function of x and which Δx is constant: If the difference of consecutive y-values is constant, the table could represent a linear function. If the ratio of consecutive y-values is constant, the table could represent an exponential function.

Turtle Example At t=0, turtles are released into the wetlands. When t=4, biologists estimate 300 turtles. Three years later, they estimate 450 turtles. Let P represent the population and t the years. 1.Find a formula for P(t) assuming linear growth. 2.Find a formula for g(t) assuming exponential growth. 3.Which is greater when t=12? Even slow exponential growth will eventually pass linear growth. Find when g(x) = 1000.
