Established the position of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology –Filled by Dr. David Brailer in May 2004 Federal efforts build on public / private activity over the last 3-4 years Dr. Brailer’s Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has stepped up the pace –July 2004 – Released “The Decade of Health Information Technology... Framework for Strategic Action” –November 2004 – Issued a request for information (RFI) for “Development and Adoption of a National Health Information Network” –September – November 2005 – Awarded eight contracts
