2 Baylor Move In Operations Two days 14 residence halls 1,000 volunteers to help students move in 3,500+ students moving in Collaboration of Campus Rec, Facilities, and the Office of Sustainability

3 Information on Move In website and email that is sent to all students prior to moving in

4 Move In Goes Green Recycling: – Pre-2009: No recycling of note – 2010: Goal- 10 tons Achieved- 10.6 tons – 2011: 12.84 tons (25,680 lbs) Eliminated Styrofoam in 2010 50+ sustainability student volunteers – Entrepreneurship class – Chi Omega Recycling and trash rolloffs at every residence hall

6 What We’ve Learned Men’s Residence HallWomen’s Residence Hall More Reusables Most volunteers are concentrated in women’s residence halls (A Tale of Two Move Ins) People are migrating towards reusables and keeping their cardboard boxes

7 Signs: Must be simple and plentiful (Digestible information is powerful.) Day of: Residence hall directors, facilities, and grounds crew participation is critical (But not easy to coordinate.) Rolloff placement is key Don’t forget the first aid/water stations
