6 #imec2016 Getting Started… Select a song o Choose a song students can sing (no wide ranges, extremely fast tempos, inappropriate lyrics) o Begin changing words if your goal is to record a parody Record the song using Garage Band (other options – Audacity)

8 Recording using Garage Band Insert karaoke track Make adjustments as needed to tempo and/or pitch Record using multiple layers (may want to mute previous recordings to avoid crossover) Microphones are available Edit as needed

15 #imec2016 Preparing for filming - PLAN Organize scenes by location Prepare timeline based on the availability of the locations Be flexible, allow more time than anticipated Be organized, have props ready. Have a back-up plan Tell other teachers, hallway monitors, administration, etc. when you may be using common areas.

16 #imec2016 Filming Keep everything you film, you may want it later or run out of time and need it Assign student jobs or plan other activities – Not everyone can be in every scene Watch film as soon as possible- the best feedback is students watching how they look on camera

17 #imec2016 Editing using iMovie Start editing/inserting video into iMovie from Day 1 if possible. Show students both good and bad clips, not all students “shine” right away Example editing in iMovie
