Welcome Back to School! New year, new goals Excitement, anticipation. I want to work with you to make this the best year for you at Hartford High.
3
A Bit About Myself My wife and I have twin two-year-olds, Rosie and Luca. I went to college at Dartmouth, which is how I fell in love the upper valley. I did my Ph.D. in atomic physics at MIT.
4
Semester I and II Preview What is Physics? Physics is the study of matter and energy, forces and motion. Physics seeks to describe the behavior and structure of matter and the nature of change.

Expectations for the Class
12
Discussion Fill out your information sheet. Please introduce yourself to the person who shares your table with you. Tell them, honestly, why you decided to take this class. Take 3 minutes to share one thing you want to get out of this class and one thing you are nervous about.
13
A Procedures Based Classroom A style of developing a classroom culture. Procedures are the predictable, established methods for performing tasks and conducting affairs. Procedures are not rules; they are the way things are done (handout).
14
Many Common Procedures Entering the classroom. Bellwork.
15
More Common Procedures Late arrival Leaving for the restroom End of class Coming to attention Asking questions / making comments Listening and responding Collecting materials Turning in work
16
Academic Honesty I do not allow cheating in my class. 1 st time: zero on assignment and 5% off your final grade 2 nd time: you will fail the class Signed by yourself and parent; copy to keep for yourself
17
Your Homework Tonight, you should obtain your materials: Binders 2” for class 5 Separator Tabs 4 color pen Graphing calc. Internet access Review the assignment procedures and set up your binder. Have your academic honesty form signed.

Questions & Reflections I will try to end every day with a few minutes for: –Questions about what we’ve done –Questions about what we will do –Comments about what we have done The last 5 minutes of class will be for reflection.
