Population Real Life ●North has 22 million people ●South has 9 million people (3 million are slaves) ●23 states fight for the North ●11 states fight for the South GAME ●2/3 of the class will represent the North ●⅓ of the class will represent the South

War Fought in South Real Life ●South knew the terrain better ●Southern civilians help south fight GAME ●Table which holds the crackers will be stationed in the South

GAME ●North gets to run to get one cracker at a time ●South has to walk to get one cracker at a time. Real Life ●North has 22,000 miles of RR ●South has 9,000 miles of RR Railroad/ Transportation

GAME ●North can use two people to blockade the South from getting supplies. They must keep their hands behind their back at all times as they block the South from getting crackers. Real Life ●¾ of the navy’s officers came from the North ●Naval yards located in the North ●North had superior Navy which they used to blockade the South NAVY

GAME ●North will use knives and the South will use forks to spread peanut butter. Real Life ●80% of the country’s factories were in the North including gun/gun powder manufacturers. ●North had more money and could borrow money to finance the war. ●South has little money and faces inflation INDUSTRY

GAME ●South will be able to use both hands to spread the peanut butter, while the North must keep one hand per person behind their backs Real Life ●Most of the US military schools were in the South. ●Generals were better trained ●Most of the soldiers from the South grew up out in the country so they were used to firing guns. GAME ●One Southerner must turn his/her back to the group and look away for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, that person will turn around and tap the person next to them on the shoulder. The new person will have to turn around for 30 seconds. You cannot make crackers while your back is turned. Real Life ●Large slave population in the South. Southerners had to worry about rebellions. SLAVERY
