A long time ago, my great-great grandparents moved to the United States from Italy. The country Italy was made up of many states and became a unified country in 1861. Italy is found in Europe, and when my family lived there they thought it was one of the most beautiful places to live in. Read on to find out more about my family history.

It was Spring when my family came to the United States, pre- world war 1 was going on also. Back then times were hard and unfortunately my family did not get a choice if they wanted to stay or not. So they moved to the United States and started a new life with a new job and new people.

When my family lived in Italy they thought it was a beautiful country. They had mild winters and long hot summers. Not too much different from the weather we get here in Michigan. They had many close friends and family that they had to leave behind, they only had a few cousins in America.

When my family came to America they realized it was a lot different from Italy. They thought there was more city and life there. As you know they only had a few cousins living there. And they were probably very lonely there. They knew it would be different then their old home in Italy but they were prepared and ready to move.

Before my great-great grandfather came to the United States with his family, he had a job in Italy. The job was not only important to him, but it was important to his whole family too. It was tough for him to find a job in the United States. But before he came, my great-great grandfather was a merchant business man in Italy. his new job in America gave him enough money to take care of his family also!

When my family moved to the United States they of course had to make a living there. Luckily the money from my great-great grandfathers job was paying off and was very resourceful at that time. My great-great grandfather was a hard working man and worked to keep his family healthy and alive.

As you know my family lived in Italy and thought it was a beautiful country. They thought it had beautiful geography and culture. In the place that my family lived, many people were poor and did not have enough money to make a living in Italy. The country Italy has many different festivals, like flower festivals, food and wine festivals and medieval festivals. If you ever go to Italy you will see different culture and foods. you may even come across a festival!

When they came, my family settled in New York State. They liked where they moved. People were nice there and treated them well. As the years went by they started to like the United States and stayed there for the next hundred years. My family loved America very much.

Back then there was not many ways you got to travel. When my family was coming to America they had to travel by boat, which is what most people had to do if they wanted to come to America. Of course people chose to travel by boat because it was better than swimming to America! So of course my family traveled by boat when they were coming to the United States.

In the past, my great-great grandfather wasn’t getting enough money in his job. So his family had to move to the united states. Another reason is the rules were not fair where they were living. When they came here they hoped that they would be able to make a living, and after a while they were able to. Another thing they planned to do when they came was to start a new life, learn a new language and even meet new people. So this is why my family came to America.

Trying to fit in was hard for my family. They had to learn a new language, learn new cultures and get used to all the things we do in America. But when they got used to all the things we did, they were just like any other American citizen. My family enjoyed America and stayed there for the next hundred years.

That’s how my family came to America
