Foundation Stage Assessment Information Evening Thursday 18 th February 2016
2
What is Orbit? Orbit Early Years is new technology that makes life easier for early years practitioners and allows sharing of information with parents.
3
Orbit Early Years makes it easy for practitioners to: Collect observations of each child Assess learning in line with the 2012 EYFS Framework Create a personalised album of each child's experiences Evaluate children and track progress over time See 'All About Me' information about each child and their family (not obligatory) Receive postcards of each child's at-home learning experiences.
4
Not just Orbit! Orbit is only part of our assessment process. It will be used alongside the Literacy and Maths Learning Journeys and staff knowledge, to create an overall assessment of each child. Final judgements will then be made after all evidence is considered and recorded on our school system.
5
How does Orbit benefit your child? You will see your child’s observations almost straight away and see what they are ‘getting up to’ in school. You will be able to discuss the work we have done in school with your child. If you wish to, you will be able to show other important people the observations and photos. You can show us the fantastic things your child does or says at home and these can go towards our assessments.
6
‘Postcards’ The ‘postcards’ from home can help us enormously with our assessments particularly in the following areas:

You then register yourself as an Orbit user on the website. Then accept the second email invitation to link to your child's Orbit record.
