Biogeography Bio = Life. Geo = Earth. Graphy = description of Biogeography = Describing where life is on the Earth.

Continental Drift Continental Drift is how the continents move across the Earth’s surface. The continents are part of large pieces of solid rock called Tectonic Plates.

Continental Drift Life forms were separated when the continents moved apart.

Dispersal Dispersal the movement organisms from one area to another. – Wind Wind – Water Water – Living Things (humans)

Limits to Dispersal There are three (3) main Barriers to Dispersal

1 Limits to Dispersal Physical barriers Like mountains or rivers that living things cannot cross. As when the continents moved apart.

2 Limits to Dispersal Competition Organisms fighting over the resources they need to survive.

3 Limits to Dispersal Climate Desert = Cactus Cold = Evergreen trees end
