INTELLIGENT SENSOR NETWORKS FOR EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS (ISNEE) By: Faye Yuen, Mary Liang, Joshua Irvine, Tiffany Iiga
2
Team Roles Faye – Hardware, Power, Research, Website Maintenance Mary – Circuit Design, Research, Book-keeping Joshua – Biosensors, Research Tiffany – Networks, Communication, Technological Research
3
Overview of Project Create a network of autonomous motes with biosensors Detect life in extreme environments Contribute to Dr. Chris McKay’s research to find life on Mars Meet and promote the goals of NASA
4
Approach Work will span 3 semesters: Fall 2005 – Research Spring 2006 – Design Fall 2006 – Build and Test
5
Potential Problems Biosensors What we are to find Where to buy biosensors (or how to build them) Budget Time it will take for funding requests to get approved Time table Sticking with our schedule
6
What We Expect To Learn Research skills and techniques Writing technical reports explaining our project Knowledge in networking, biosensors, hardware, software, etc. Project management and completion
7
Deliverable Goals for Spring 2006 Have a schematic diagram Order parts for prototype Test individual parts for prototype Decide on best casings to use Decide what we are detecting with the biosensors Have a power supply capable of supporting each mote
8
Proposed Schedule for Spring 2006 Meet with Dr. Edo Biagioni, PODS researcher Meet with Dr. Daniel Jenkins, Bioengineering Professor Meet with Vicky Hamilton, Mars Expert Order parts Finish circuit design
