Skeletal System Functions
1- It gives you shape and support, it is also “known as the framework of the body” 2- It protects your internal organs. 3- Muscles are attached to the bones and help them move. 4- Blood cells are formed in the center of many bones in a soft tissue called red marrow. 5- Calcium and phosphorus compounds are stored in bones for later. They make the bones hard.

Facts The muscles that are attached to the bones move them. The muscles also shape the bones.

joints There are several types of joints that hold bones together.

Major Organs The bones are the major organs of the skeletal system.
Major bones: skull, clavicle, scapulae, sternum, iliac crest, patella, and the tibia

Vocabulary Skeletal system- It is all the bones in your body.
Periosteal- It is a tuff, tight-fitting membrane. Cartilage- It is a smooth slippery thick layer of tissue at the ends of bones. Joint- It is the place where any two bones meet. Ligaments- bones are held in place at these joints by tough bands of tissue. Compact bones, spongy bone, and cartilage are other vocabulary
