2 Skeletal System Functions
1- It gives you shape and support, it is also “known as the framework of the body” 2- It protects your internal organs. 3- Muscles are attached to the bones and help them move. 4- Blood cells are formed in the center of many bones in a soft tissue called red marrow. 5- Calcium and phosphorus compounds are stored in bones for later. They make the bones hard.

3 Facts The muscles that are attached to the bones move them. The muscles also shape the bones.

4 joints There are several types of joints that hold bones together.

5 Major Organs The bones are the major organs of the skeletal system.
Major bones: skull, clavicle, scapulae, sternum, iliac crest, patella, and the tibia

6 Vocabulary Skeletal system- It is all the bones in your body.
Periosteal- It is a tuff, tight-fitting membrane. Cartilage- It is a smooth slippery thick layer of tissue at the ends of bones. Joint- It is the place where any two bones meet. Ligaments- bones are held in place at these joints by tough bands of tissue. Compact bones, spongy bone, and cartilage are other vocabulary
