2. SIGN IN Students will receive credit for your attendance tonight. Please make sure to sign in on the list in the main entrance.

3. Class Requirements 2 Composition Notebooks Colored pencils, sticky notes, glue sticks, loose paper Students must bring their notebook to class every day. Please check your student’s notebook daily/weekly for quality work.

5. Absences Students are responsible for making up all work missed during an absence. Class work and assignments are posted to: Newdesignscharter.com Students are expected to make up any tests or quizzes the next day (Tues-Fri at 7:30 am) Tutoring is available on Thursday, for 1 hour after school (3:45 – 4:45).

6. Failing students Will be required to stay Thursdays to make up missing work, or retry assignments. Late work is always accepted, but not for full credit. Late work is not graded as time permits.

7. Checking Grades Please ask the office for the form to get signed up for FOCUS, the school’s grading system. Student’s password not required Can be checked on a smart phone Shows grades for all classes

8. ClassDojo System for tracking student participation/behavior Sign up codes will be sent out next week Weekly reports sent out Students can only sign up to check their points with parental permission Communication system Send texts to teachers Receive class notices

9. How to help students succeed Weekly: Check their notebooks Check their grades Read ClassDojo email Check Progress Reports Every 5 weeks Students should be studying every night Ask them what they learned in each class today, and don’t take “nothing” for an answer Ask to see their last homework assignment Students should have at least 1 HW assignment/week

Class Behavior Students are expected to: Stay seated Raise their hand to speak Be quiet while others are speaking Keep drinks/food in their backpacks Plain water is allowed except during labs Participate in class discussions (answer questions) and group activities Listen and follow all directions the first time they are given Be respectful

11. Discipline When students do not follow class rules they will receive: Warning Loss of ClassDojo points Detention- after school Removal from activity Call home/ClassDojo/Teleparent call Referral to administrator

12. Conferences Individual conferences are available to discuss student progress every day during Middle School period 6 (2:00 – 2:50 pm), except minimum day Tuesdays (11:50 -12:15) Please make an appointment with me or the main office.

13. Period 3/ 6A Regular dismissal Tuesdays students need a book to read for Silent Sustained Reading (SSR). Advisory is our “homeroom” class Graded class Study skills, other educational topics
