1 Achievements of Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries

2 DAIRY DEVELOPMENT First time in the country under National Gokul Mission - Special attention to develop and Conserve the Indigenous Bovine Breeds Focus on Development & Conservation of Indigenous Breeds in a scientific and holistic manner with manifold increase in budget allocation. Budget allocation 11 times more than 2013-14 compared to 2014-15.

Increase in average price paid to farmers 3 The earnings of dairy farmers registered an average increase of 11.30% since May, 2014.

4 Impressive increase in milk procurement/sale Since May, 2014, procurement of milk by Dairy Cooperatives increased by 12.5% and sale of liquid milk increased by 6.8%.

5 First time milk production increased by 6.8% Milk production increased from 137.69 Million Tonnes to 146.31 Million Tonnes between 2013-14 and 2014-15. Production is projected at 160.35 Million Tonnes.

6 NATIONAL LIVESTOCK MISSION First time all the districts and animals covered under Livestock Insurance Scheme The scope and coverage of Livestock Insurance has been increased from 300 districts to all districts and from only 2 milch animals to 5 milch animals/ other animals or 50 small animals.

7 Perceptible increase in Egg production & per capita availability of protein The annual growth rate of egg production is 5%. Egg is one of the compact sources of nutrition, rich in essential vitamins and minerals and per capita availability has increased to 63 eggs per annum.

8 LIVESTOCK HEALTH Substantial increase in Vaccinations for better animal health No of vaccination (in million) Vaccination number of 552.65 million in the year 2013-14 have increased to 758.04 millions, till the month of December, 2015

Drastic reduction in FMD Outbreaks 9 FMD outbreaks recorded were 377 during the year 2013 while during the year 2015, outbreaks dropped to mere 46 which is considered to be an impressive achievement.

Significant drop in HS Outbreaks 10 In comparison to the year 2013, HS outbreaks have been reduced significantly during the year 2014 and further reduced to 44 during the year 2015.

11 No. of Veterinary Colleges increased B.V.Sc. & AH qualification of 10 more Veterinary colleges has been recognized and Nos. of colleges included in First Schedule of IVC Act, 1984 have increased to 46 from 36.

No. of Veterinary Graduates increased 12 Consequent upon inclusion of 10 more colleges in the First Schedule of IVC Act, 1984, the B.V.Sc. qualification of 3,398 pass-out students from these colleges have been recognized.

Increase of seats in 17 Vet. Colleges 13 In order to meet the shortage of trained veterinary manpower, intake of students in various Veterinary Colleges was enhanced from 60 to 100 seats. Total number of seats has been increased to 1,332 from 914 in 17 Veterinary Colleges.

14 FISHERIES - BLUE REVOLUTION Fish Production reached 149.50 lakh tonnes during April 2014 to September 2015. The Fish Production registered a growth on 6.18% during 2014-15 which was 5.88% during 2013-14.

Saving Cum-Relief 16 The relief amount under the Saving Cum-Relief component of the CSS on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries have been increased from Rs.600/- per month in 2013-14 to Rs.900/- per month in 2014-15 and after revision it has now been increased to Rs. 1500/- per month. Under this component, an amount of Rs.1500/-each would be contributed by the Government of India, concerned State Government and beneficiary fishers. The total accumulated amount of Rs.4,500/- would be provided to the enrolled fishers during the three months lean fishing period at a rate of Rs1,500/- per month.

Central funding for fisheries infrastructure projects 17 Central financial assistance for infrastructure projects has been increased from 40% to 50% from the year 2014-15 to 2015-16.

Central funding for North Eastern and Himalayan States 18 Central Financial assistance for fisheries development in North-Estern States has been enhahced from 75% to 80% under Central Sector Scheme on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries. The present financial assistance of Rs.37,500 provided for fishers housing scheme has been aligned with the guidelines and funding pattern of Indira Awas Yojana (IAY)/ Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) under the CSS on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries.
