1 U10-U12 Training Sessions Possession with a purpose By Carlos Menjivar-, DOC Cal North-2016

2 Warm-up: 20-25 Minutes of fun activities Movement with and without the ball Slow to medium pace (gradually) Occasionally Select a players to warm-up team Discover leadership-Maturity of players

3 Warm-up Continues Introduce fun-recreational activities Work on activities related to topic of the day Make emphasis on proper technique Accelerate pace as warm-up goes on Finish practice with a positive note, laughter Send players home with much desire to play

4 Possession with a Purpose Small Sided Activity Introduce proper technique/tactic of topic Select groups of players to work together Defenders all together Midfielders all together Forwards all together Mix defenders with midfielders Midfielders with forwards

5 Possession with a Purpose Field 25x30- 18x44, etc. Pug Goals/Other small goals No limited number of touches Make good decisions Short-short- long Long pass must be lofted Short-Short must be on the ground

6 Possession with a Purpose 2v2+2 neutrals inside field (3 touch max) 6 neutrals on perimeter of field. Neutrals outside field play one touch-lateral Movements 3v3+2 neutrals inside field-4 neutrals around field. 4 Neutrals outside field play one touch Vary # of touches according to goals of day

7 Possession with a Purpose 2 neutrals inside field should be central midfielders first Rotate neutral players inside field every 4 minutes Options for combination plays: Wall pass, overlap runs, etc. Grant points to players having success with combination plays

9 Possession with a Purpose Expanded Small sided Game: 4v4+2 neutrals inside field-2 more neutrals outside field Flow of practice should be intense Correct technical/tactical deficiencies Ask guided Discovery Questions Let players finish their answer Make emphasis on team shape

11 Possession with a Purpose Match: 25-30 Minutes Let players enjoy the game Even numbers-attack two pug goals and two other goals located on each corner of field Or attack two U12 goals size Players should change point of attack Translate first stages to the match

12 U10-U12 Training Match should be intense Make some corrections Corrections should be brief Give freedom of action and thinking End training session with a positive note
