1
Understand directions, options, variations and connections: the key to Managing Chaos
2
Reflect n n What do you feel about the progress of your research? n n Have your goal been met (or partially met)? Or the situation has been chaotic?
3
Common Characteristics Use NOT more than five words to describe the common characteristics of 'ideas', 'information' and 'data' you have collected so far for your project.
4
A Normal Situation 'Ideas', 'Information' and 'Data' collected in your literature review or other sources are n n random n n miscellaneous n n a mess of stuff
5
Connect … Insight n n They don't make any sense at all unless they are suitably and meaningfully connected with each other to form a school of thoughts or they are leading to some insight.
6
Change of Goal A moving target n Changes with time n More information available n Better understanding of the subject n In light of unresolved difficulties n Time is running out n Findings different from expection
7
Method n n Your method is important for illustrating the validity of your research output.
8
Analysis n n The Purpose of analysis is 'Insight' n n The Best Analysis is the Simplest Analysis Equipped yourself with a set of effective 'questioning tools'
9
Conclusions & Recommendations n Important n But how to make them right? n Any samples available?
10
Assignment n n Read at least three journal papers of any kind, concentrate on the conclusions, and find out more examples in addition to the above. n n Email me your findings by the end of next week.
