3. What is Civics? This course pertains to the principles, functions, and organization of government; the origins of the American political system; the roles, rights, responsibilities of United States citizens; and methods of active participation in our political system.

4. What is an EOC? The Florida End‐of‐Course (EOC) Assessments are designed to increase student achievement and improve college and career readiness. EOC assessments are criterion‐referenced tests that measure the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for specific courses. All assessments are administered via a computer‐based testing platform. Question formats include multiple choice and/or fill‐in response items.

5. Test Information 0 The Civics EOC Assessment is delivered via a computer-based test (CBT) platform called TestNav. 0 The assessment is given in one 160-minute session with a 10-minute break after the first 80 minutes. Students will not be allowed to talk during the break. As with FCAT 2.0 paper-based administrations, individual breaks may be allowed as needed. Students may not be dismissed during the first 80 minutes; however, if they complete the test in the first 80 minutes, they may be dismissed at the beginning of the 10-minute break. After the 10- minute break, students may be dismissed as they complete the test 0 Although the assessment is scheduled for a 160-minute session, any student not finished by the end of the 160 minutes may continue working. Testing must be completed within the same school day.

6. Test Information (continued) 0 There are multiple forms of the assessment, with a maximum of 56 multiple- choice items on each test form. Six to ten items are experimental (field test) items and are NOT included in student scores. 0 Students may use a one-page CBT worksheet as scratch paper during the test. 0 Teachers, parents, and students can review the Civics EOC Assessment computer-based practice test, called an ePAT. This tool is available online at www.FLAssessments.com/ePAT. Instructions for downloading the installer software and ePAT are also located on this site. Students are required to participate in a practice test at their school prior to testing.
