Courses  Students are required to take classes on the Approved dual course list from GADOE: www.gsfc.org/secure/dsp_accel_course_listings.cfm  Full Time College Status vs Part Time College Status  Part time status is a minimum of 6 classes between BHS & college.  Full time status is a minimum of 12 course hours and a maximum of 15 hours all taken on the college campus.  A 3 hr college course (1 sem) = 1 credit @ BHS (2 sem)  ex: student is required to take only 1 sem of English at the college to equal 2 sem of English @ BHS.  Local districts have flexibility on additional requirements For the honor of Val/Sal, students must take a minimum of 2 academic core courses (English, Math, Sci, SS) and 3 total classes each semester. In addition, 2 AP courses.

10. Grading  Colleges use letter grades A=95 B=85 C=75 D=70  If a course requires an EOC, the student is required to take the exam.  The exam grade will be calculated as 20% of the grade as listed above.  Weighted GPA  +10 points is added to dual credit courses for calculating academic weighted percent and HOPE GPA  Duplicated high school credits will transfer to the high school as elective credit (ie: Biology, US History) and these courses do NOT earn +10 points.

17. 2 year Residential Program Designed to be a 2- year program for 11 th and 12 th grade students, students live in a dorm specified for MOWR students, and attend classes with students enrolled in the MOWR program from other high schools.

Benefits  Eases the transition from high school to college  Provides an early start on their college careers  Offers meaningful academic experiences  Provides early college opportunities for students to try who normally would not attend college.  Students will have flexible scheduling opportunities because courses can be taken anytime.  Saves money because college tuition and expenses are fully or mostly paid  Reduces college courses and attendance time after high school graduation.

19. Senior Privilege Period  At BHS, we believe that students earn privileges for achieving high standards.  A privilege period is “a period of the school day” when a student is not assigned a class (a free period)  Parental permission is required for a student to participate in the program. (form is available in the guidance office)  A privilege period is not considered one of the 6 required courses for students enrolled in the MOWR program b/c it is considered a “free” period.  Privilege period(s) are awarded to students who meet the requirements set forth by the faculty/staff of BHS.

20.  A student may earn 1 or 2 privilege periods.  Privilege periods can be taken during the following periods:  Privilege periods are often times dependent on scheduling.  May have to change from 1 st to 7 th period  May have to only have 1 period vs 2 periods.  Students have to maintain standards to keep the privilege period(s). Senior Privilege Period 1 period of the day: 1 st period 7 th period 2 periods of the day: 1 st and 2 nd periods 6 th and 7 th periods 1 st and 7 th periods
